In an industry dominated by technical jargon and complicated solutions to complicated problems, having an adept liaison between your organization and technology companies is essential. Sample Curriculum

Intro to Windows:  

This class will introduce students to the most popular operating system today, MS Windows.  The class will teach the students the differences between file names and extensions, icons, fields, buttons, and the command lines.  It will also show them how to navigate using the Graphical User Interface (GUI).  Length: 4 hours

Intro to the WWW:

This class will introduce students to the most talked about part of the Internet, the World Wide Web.  The students will learn about web browsers.  The differences between a local file and a remote file, file formats, URL, Domain naming and their extensions, WebPages, links, and desktops, and servers.  The students will also learn how to navigate and search for information and participate in discussions within community groups.  Length: 4 hours

Intro to Email:

This class will introduce students to today’s most popular means of communication, the email.  Students will learn the structure of an email address and the different software that can be use.  They will also learn how to create, send, edit, reply, save, print, and delete an email.  Students will also create personal email accounts using free web base email services such as Yahoo.com.  Length 4 hours.

Intro to Word for Win:

This class will introduce students to the word processor MicroSoft Word for Windows.  In this class students will learn how to create, format, save, print and publish a document to the Internet.  Length 4 hours.

Liberty Computing Center will provide a hosting location with:

  • A computer lab with 10 workstations and Internet access.
  • Training to 110 students per year or 176 lecture hours.  The smaller of the two.
    • 10 students per class
    • 2 hours per day
    • 2 days per week
    • 4 weeks per month
    • 11 cycles per year
  • 176 lab hours.
    • 2 hours per day
    • 2 days per week
    • 4 weeks per month
    • 11 cycles per year
  • Conditions:
    • Computers will be purchased and maintained by United Internet Services, Inc. and remain the property of United Internet Services, Inc.

Plan B:

  • Training to 60 students per year or 100 lecture hours.  The smaller of the two.
    • 10 students per class
    • 2 hours per day
    • 2 days per week
    • 4 weeks per month
    • 6 cycles per year
  • 100 lab hours.
    • 2 hours per day
    • 2 days per week
    • 4 weeks per month
    • 6 cycles per year
